she is so cute {DT work for sketchabilities}

hello scrappy friends!

today we've got a huge party going on in the NETHERLANDS - it's the QUEEN's BIRTHDAY!

there is music, dancing and beer on every corner of the city, everyone is dressed in ORANGE and having FUN! hence my late post...

it's the end of april and it is time for the second reveal for april at sketchabilities - sketch #70.

"she is so cute"

and this the sketch #70:

i started with white cardstock {i'm addicted to it lately}, butterfly glimmer screens and TIM HOLTZ' "spun sugar" and "worn lipstick" distress ink. for the edges i used MARTHA STEWART "butterfly" edge punch.

for the fussy cut elements i used some vintage PRIMA collections - "shabby chic" and "raspberry tea".

here are a few close ups:

for the big butterflies i used marianne design cutting die, martha stewart "monarch butterfly" punch and a printed butterfly from the "morning poetry" paper; i added rhinestones for extra glam:-)

i stitched the blue frame by hand; the banner is stamped with my mind's eye clear stamp set; i stitched the edge and added rhinestones:

for the name banner i used spellbinders nested lacey pennants and PRIMA alphabte stickers "almanac":

the bird cage is also from marianne design:

the small butterflies are punched with martha stewart punches:

the flowers are from PRIMA marketing - sculpture blossoms, e line pink flowers and caboodles:

i hope you like my project!

enjoy life {DT work for heartfelt creations}

hello scrappy friends!

i've got some pretty FABULOUS news today - i've been invited to join the heartfelt creations AMAZING design team for another term! YAY! having been on this team has allowed me to step out of my box and learn a lot. and i'm always amazed at the beauty displayed on their blog!

make sure to visit the HEARTFELT CREATIONS's blog today to see the results of the voting and say HELLO to the newest members of the design team.

and here is my project for this week's HEARTFELT CREATIONS wednesday reveal -

"ENJOY LIFE"

heartfelt creations products used on this project:
HCPC 3465 palisade farmstead precut set
HCPC 3374 flora grande 2 precut set
HCPC 3375 flora grande 1 precut set
HCPC 3405 leaf medley precut set
HCD 714 decorative layered basket die
HCD 702 decorative butterfly border die
 HCD 720 western broncos die
HCD 721 rustic western elements die
 elegant posts shapeabilities
 blossoms 3 nestabilities
 foliage shapeabilities

i started with a white cardstock, Prima marketing foliage mask and a bottle of ranger perfect perals mists "forever green". i place the mask on the cardstock, but instead of spraying the perfect pearls, i used a sponge brush to color the mask and the edges. i added a second colour at the edges with tim holtz' "tea dye" distress ink pad.  for a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a custom made background paper, click HERE.

when it dried i punch the decorative edge using martha stewart “pansies” punch around the page set and stitched the blue borders, while adding some of the fussy cut paper elements {i used the wonderful wesbter’s pages “wonderfall” collection}.

i glued the picture on pattern paper, shaped the two long edges with martha stewart “Doliy” edge punch and embossed them slightly to add extra dimension to my page. using HC decorative butterfly border die i cut two borders from reddish pattern paper. added them under the picture and placed it on the layout. then i arranged and glued the rest of my fussy cut elements around the photograph.

Stamp a long wooden fence and three small ones {HC palisade farmstead set} on a brown cardstock, die cut them with HC rustic western elements die and adhere them below and next to the picture. Using HC decorative layered basket die and HC western broncos die cut the dark green foliage elements.

Stamp large and small leaves with HC leaf medley set on a light green cardstock, die cut them {shapeabilities foliage}, emboss the individual leaves and arrange them, together with the dark green foliage, on the wooden fences.

for the flowers i stamped different blossoms with HC flora grande 2 set and HC flora grande 1 set, die cut them {nestabilities blossoms 3}, separated and shaped the petals by hand. then, i glued the blossoms together and added glitter glue in the middle.

to finish off my project i added glitter glue dots and rhinestones.

i hope you enjoyed today's post!

have a lovely creative week!

mixed media personalized background paper

hello scrappy friends!

after attending sharon's mixed media album workshop, i got hooked on art mediums! i bought almost every single one of them available on the market and i enjoyed long hours experimenting and mixing in my scrappy room.

today, i've been exploring mixed media painting techniques for customized background papers and  i want to share some of them with you.

1. rainbow background paper #1 using acrylic paint:

i used tim holtz' paint dabbers - purple twilight, denim, cloudy blue, lettuce with a hint of mushroom, butterscotch mixed with snow cap, mountain rose and red pepper.

i used a brush to create the different rays, because i wanted to have different lengths and sizes.

2. rainbow background #2 using acrylic paint - if you don't like the mess, here is a tip on how to create an "organized" rainbow:

begin with a small circle somewhere on your page - 7cm / diameter; then draw 6 bigger circles, but each circle should be 2 cm larger then the previous one.

then paint the circles in rainbow colours - i used the dabbers and a brush for the fine edges:

3. customized background using ranger prefect pearls mists and distress ink pad

i used PRIMA marketing foliage mask, RANGER perfect pearls mists 'forever green, sponge brush and TIM HOLTZ' distress ink pad "old paper". first i drew the rectangle in the middle of my paper. then i positioned the mask, but instead of spraying the pearls, i added them with a sponge brush {tip from Susan Smit}. like this i managed to keep the colour inside my rectangle.

i smudged some perfect pearls on the edges of the background paper and to finish it off, i added a layer of distress ink on top of the pearls.

then i punched the edge and stitched the two rectangles.

i hope today's post was useful to you! i can't wait to see your tailor-made background papers!

come back tomorrow as i'll be posting the layouts i made with these background papers.

have a creative evening!

Emmy

my guy {DT work for heartfelt creations}

hello scrappy friends!

it's wednesday again and it is time for another HEARTFELT CREATIONS reveal.

this week i chose to work with the fantastic WESTERN ELEMENTS and MY GUY collections:

heartfelt creations products used in this project:

True Hemp Crafters Cord

for my background i used brown cardstock. to age the paper i dostressed the edges with “old paper” distress ink and TIM HOLTZ’ paper distressing tool. i stamped the big foliage from HC leaf medley set along the edge with brown ink. then i stamped 12 ropes with HC western elements set on brown cardstock, die cut them {HC rustic western elements die} and used them for my four 30cm ropes. i added a layer of tim holtz clear rock candy crackle paint and after the ropes were dry i attach them on my page.

i used HC window accents set and brown ink for the woody background in the middle of the page. then i cut two red circles {diameter 9 cm} from the “stripe” paper {glitz design “french kiss” collection} and added little punched stars along the circles’ edge. for the third circle i used stickles "turquoise" glitter glue.

to fit the western atmosphere i added brads to the large picture and tied  light brown hemp cord around them.

using HC western broncos die i cut the big foliage elements to create the greenery above the pictures. i used two different colors of green cardstock to give extra dimension to my layout.

i stamped one wind mill {HC barnyard elements set}, two large fences and a small one {HC palisade farmstead set}, two horse shoes {HC western bronco set}, a worn fence and wheel {HC western elements set} on a brown cardstock; die cut them using the matching dies - HC western broncos die and HC rustic western elements die; added clear rock candy crackle paint to some of the elements and arranged them around the pictures.

using HC decorative layered basket die i cut the small green foliage elements, embossed the leaves and arranged them around the wooden fences. i stamp various sizes daises {HC daisy patch flowers set} on different pattern papers, embossed and shaped the petals by hand and layered the flowers. I added stickles “turquoise” glitter glue to the middle of my daisies to finish them off.

for my title i used HC my guy set and blue ink. i stamped the words i needed on a piece of pattern paper, cut out the banners and added them to my layout.

i hope you liked today's post!
